Long known for its guitar amplifiers and speakers, British audio experts Marshall have taken on a brand new foray: smartphones. Designed specifically for music junkies is Marshall’s brand new London — the name of which is an obvious nod to the company’s English heritage. And while the London may not have the likes of Apple and Samsung shaking in their boots, it does offer a number of noteworthy features. Nostalgically designed with the brand’s signature grainy black leather finish and golden accents, Marshall’s London employs a wheel for adjusting volume — in lieu of two buttons — while users can directly access music with the click of the “M” button oh the bottom of the phone. Better yet, British manufacturer Wolfson — known for its IC chips for music applications — provides the chipset underneath the hood, so the audio output is some of the best the smartphone arena has to offer. Rounded out with built-in DJ software and equalizers, the London is a nice music-centric entry into the market.
Featuring a 4.7″ 720p IPS display, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of on-board storage, a Micro-SD slot, and an 8MP camera with a 2MP front-facing camera, the Marshall London will soon be available to those in the UK for about $600 USD.
